The New Orleans Bowl sees Ohio come south to play Troy, who returns to the game after a year away. The game will be played indoors at the Superdome, which sound a lot better than the weather at the two earlier games today. Kickoff is at 9 PM Eastern, on ESPN. Troy Troy (7-5, 6-2) will call themselves [...] The Humanitarian Bowl pits 10-3 Northern Illinois against 8-4 Fresno State, tonight at 5:30 Eastern, on ESPN as usual. The teams take to the blue turf in Boise, Idaho, an outdoor field where the weather calls for a near 100% chance of snow and/or rain, with a high of 36 degrees. Northern Illinois NIU arrives by way of [...] Since I didn’t get around to posting yesterday, I can include the East-division-deciding (probably) Tuesday night game, and once again it looks like the Ohio Bobcats are off to Detroit for the conference championship game, most likely against Northern Illinois. Miami will play Temple for 2nd in the division later this month. But first, the Saturday [...] The MAC gives us some Friday Football tonight (don’t get excited), then three games tomorrow as they spread everybody else out on weeknights this month. 6:00 PM Friday, ESPNU- Ball State at Buffalo: Between the two teams are five wins and 14 losses, such that neither team has any hope of a bowl game. Forgive me if [...] Miami beat Bowling Green last night in what wound up being a very compelling game that I wished I’d turned on before the end of the 3rd quarter. With fog so thick that the players were near invisible when the camera pulled back for kickoffs and such, Bowling Green bounced back from a 25-yard third quarter [...] The two top teams in the MAC got together last night, and like Boise-Hawaii and TCU-Utah… it wasn’t even close. NIU jumped all over Toledo, leading 28-0 at the half, then kept their foot on the gas on the way to a 65-30 victory and a clear path to the conference championship game. NIU improves to [...] The MAC is into it’s completely insane November schedule, but since I didn’t write last week, I’ll cover the weeknight games we missed here as well as the games from Saturday. Ohio 34, Buffalo 17- Thursday’s game held no great surprise, as Ohio keeps itself in the chase by handling Buffalo comfortably. Next Game: Ball State at [...] Things went mostly according to plan in the MAC this weekend, with only a mild upset at the bottom of the standings disrupting the favorites’ day. Northern Illinois 28, Western Michigan 21- This was a back & forth affair, with WMU leading 21-20 inside six minutes to play, but the Huskies responded with the winning touchdown to [...] The MAC has finally reached the end of its loaded Saturday schedules, which is cool because previewing & recapping 7 or 8 MAC games every week gets a little tedious.
