While most of the drama has subsided in the WAC, there’s still that chance of an upset of Boise State is spending too much time worrying about bowl selections, and one game that nobody is going to watch will have huge ramifications on many teams nationwide.
Before we get into previews of the games that our conferences have lined up this weekend, let’s take a look at what the implications are of the other games on the docket for this week and weekend.
Oregon State at Oregon (Thursday): National Implications: Winner advances to the Rose Bowl. Non-BCS Implications: Virtually none. The loser [...]
The WAC’s big showdown came on Friday night, but Saturday wasn’t without it’s surprises too. The league now just needs one more upset to get another team into the bowl picture, while the middle three or four teams in the league are proving to be more even than once thought.
For most of America’s 1-A college football teams, the regular season has come to a close. The conferences with no championship game have a few games here and there over the next few weeks, and four non-BCS teams have appointments with championship games next week. Here are some of the highlights from yesterday’s action:
Troy and [...]
In case you were being dragged around the malls into the afternoon, we had two more titles handed out over the last 24 hours or so, and the BCS picture isn’t getting any better for Boise State. Here’s what we know, and what we think:
Ohio 35, Temple 17- Ohio is you MAC East Champion and [...]
Overall, it was a good, but quiet, weekend for the WAC. Boise survived a mild upset scare Friday night, and while they didn’t get a lot of style points, right now catching TCU isn’t going to hinge on whether they win by 10 or 20 over Louisiana Tech. Fresno beat up on Idaho pretty badly, [...]
The Mid-Season Report Cards are a subjective look using objective numbers with a look toward the remainder of the season as well. Teams are being reviewed in random order once they reach 6 games.
Hey, look, this Boise State bunch is pretty good. Debuting at 4th in the first BCS Poll, the Broncos are the first [...]
The Vegas prognosticators like Boise State by more than a touchdown, but I suspect it will be closer than that. My guess is that Tulsa will keep close all night long, but Boise should probably win this one with both teams scoring in the 20s.
Why yes, that is what I wrote yesterday shortly before kickoff. [...]
We’re now closing in on 90 minutes from what may be the biggest non-conference, non-BCS game of the year. Boise State is leaving the comfort of the Blue Field for the third time this season, taking on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Both teams rank highly in whatever stat column you look at so we should [...]
For maybe the first time since this thing started, I actually have all 5 conference wrapups done and it’s only Tuesday. Awesome. Tomorrow we’ll start with the weekend previews. Your Sun Belt preview will be along in a little while with a look at tonight’s ESPN2 game.
The WAC had a reasonably successful weekend- they took [...]
