UCF & Marshall found themselves in a lightning delay for over an hour Tuesday night, with UCF leading 14-7 at the time. While the lightning eventually cleared out, the rain never did, and most of the game was run, run, run, punt from both sides. UCF pulled away steadily, ultimately winning 35-14 in a sloppy game. UCF [...] UCF dominated every aspect of last night’s game, putting together a complete game and winning 42-7- even more than my 35-13 prediction. With the win, UCF establishes themselves as at least a contender for the East title, and with the best teams in the division coming through Orlando, UCF may be hard to beat. Meanwhile UAB [...] For all the talk about Troy losing a lot of players, and Dwight Dasher returning for his senior season after the 4 game suspension, this game went a lot like most Troy-Middle Tennessee games do: Troy beat the tar out of the Blue Raiders. The expectations seemed to be completely wrong last night- Troy’s defense, previously shaky, [...] We saw a very eventful day in non-BCS football Saturday, especially in the MAC- Ball State beat Central Michigan, Wyoming came in and beat Toledo, Miami beat Kent State and is now 2-0 in the league, and even Eastern Michigan was ahead of Ohio for a while before falling away. The Sun Belt took a beating, 0-4 [...] Utah State dominated BYU Friday Night, storming out to a 17-0 lead and never letting the Cougars back in the game. Diondre Borel was responsible for 250 yards and two scores, one on foot and one through the air. Jake Heaps was only 27 of 55 with no scores. The biggest question remains- where do these teams [...] With only five conference games going on yesterday, and only three of the 54 Fringe teams taking the week off, we had an almost overwhelming quantity of games yesterday. It was wonderful. Well, for the fan, not for every team or every league. The Sun Belt had the worst day yesterday, losing all five out of conference [...] Not my picks- I gave Kansas too much credit- but non-BCS schools won both of the Friday night specials last night. Southern Miss 31, Kansas 16- Southern Miss’ defense looked great for one series against South Carolina back on opening night, then got trampled. Last night, they looked good the whole time. The Golden Eagles scored on [...] Short for time today, but have no fear- the complete weekend rundowns are coming tomorrow & Tuesday. A few notable results- Akron lost to FCS Gardner-Webb, Hawaii beat Army, Air Force beat BYU (finally a semi-bold preseason prediction comes true for me), Troy lost to Oklahoma State by 3, Toledo beat Ohio, and a lot of [...] Actually, the Houston game might still be on, what time is it anyway? West Virginia 24, Marshall 21 (OT): Marshall was inside the WVU 10 with a chance to ice the game, already leading 21-6, halfway through the third quarter. Ball pops out, WVU recovers at the 6, and if you didn’t watch it, you can still [...] Central Michigan outgained Temple by 77 yards, but penalties, turnovers, and missed kicks kept the Chips from capitalizing on any advantage they might have had. Temple didn’t look much better, missing two field goals in the early going that could have given them an early lead they might never have lost. Both teams struggled on offense, [...] |
