Quiet night in college football, between the big opener and the bigger Saturday.
Temple very nearly became the first team to fall to a FCS opponent Friday night. Villanova took the lead in the second quarter and held it until the 4th, then took it back again with under 2 minutes to play after Temple fumbled the ball away on their own 25 or so. Finally, Temple sealed the game with a 43 yard field goal, then stole a lateral and ran it back during the final kickoff to win 31-25. Have a look at the highlights before the Disney Monolith gets it yanked:
Things did not go well for Toledo. The defense and special teams looked sharp early on, with two punts landing inside the ten. The first led to a safety, and for a brief period the score was 7-2 and Arizona looked like they were a bit out of sync. On the next Wildcat possession, they got it together and marched 91 yards for a score and never looked back. Arizona let off the gas just a little in the fourth quarter, but still put the Rockets away 41-2.
Like last season, the Fringe lives on twitter on Saturdays. Today we’ll tweet along with the first group of games for a while, but then we head for the stadium for South Dakota at UCF, so afternoon tweeting will be minimal. Hoping to be back for the second half of Oregon State-TCU, depends on traffic.
