Links All Around!

By the end of the day, we’ll be half done with the season previews.  We have some good ones today- through random selection, we’ve only had one team come up between 12 and 22 (NIU and I’m pretty sure they’ll be higher in my last pre-season list), and that’s where things can be really exciting at the non-BCS level- you’re not a Utah powerhouse, you don’t have the expectations of a Houston, but if things go well you’ll be in the hunt to win your division or conference and land a nice bowl game.  So we have a couple of those today, as well as one of 2009′s biggest implosions.

I first read this rumor on a BYU board I found when writing up their preview, but maybe the guy wasn’t as crazy as he sounded – BYU considering going independent. Just speculation, but

Willie Korn is gone from Marshall after not being picked for the two-deep at QB and not being interested in moving to safety.

The local guys are not too big on Central Michigan’s early schedule, including Temple and Northwestern.  But as noted in the preview, CMU doesn’t seem to be a big priority with the local paper, so take it with a grain of salt.

And for a little Sun Belt flavor, Middle Tennessee is looking for a game in 2011.  I of course have no idea, but I’d love for them to come visit my neck of the woods (UCF).  Interestingly, he’s worried that Stockstill might be a candidate at USF if Skip Holtz moves on, but I think he’ll be a candidate at a lot of places long before that happens.
