Fringe Links: 3 Weeks and Counting

We are 3 weeks away from opening night.  There are 18 games on Thursday, September 2, and guess what: 13 of them (and 6 out of the 7 on national TV) feature non-BCS teams.  Stick around and you’ll know who’s who and what to expect.

First off, if you don’t have the College Football TV Schedule on your bookmarks, or better yet as your start page, you’re missing out.  The anonymous LSU-backing soul(s) who keeps this up to date year-round deserves a bust in the Hall.  Now, on to a few tidbits on teams we’ve hit already on the previews:

The Mormon Times has a look at the two man race to replace Max Hall at BYU.

Utah State is looking to lock down their RB position, and they’re talking about going to a bowl game.  They also talk about playing at a high level against Oklahoma, but I don’t know what that means to them.  Word on the street is that Oklahoma might be seriously good this year.

Tulane wants to “raise the level of expectations.”  Um, I don’t think they have.  Aim low and brace for impact, Tulane fans.

North Texas coach Todd Dodge sees a 6-6 or better season (shocking, I know, that a coach would be optimistic before the season starts).  But that would be cool for him, since that would more than double his win total.

More previews today- the bad, the good, and the very, very bad.  But hey, everybody’s 0-0 for 3 more weeks.
