Week 11 is now over and done with, and we’ve been set up with some very compelling drama in the last two or three weeks of the season in most of our conferences. Troy still has as stranglehold on the Sun Belt, and TCU has finished off its biggest rivals out west, but the other three leagues are still very much in the balance.
Last night, Tulsa put on one of the worst offensive line performances I can ever remember watching. Quarterback GJ Kinne’s strategy was, literally, snap it and start running, because here comes ECU. Even so, he showed signs of brilliance, and wideout/kick returner Damaris Johnson was electric, but that wasn’t enough to overcome the Pirate steamroller in the later stages of the game, and 3 turnovers run back for touchdowns finished them off, to a final score of 44-17. Commentators might try to tell you that it was closer than the score said, but it wasn’t- ECU was more dominant than the scoreboard showed until the runbacks adjusted the total.
This week on the fringe, we’ll start with weekly wrapups and conference championship outlooks, then a bowl projection on about Wednesday, another discussion of where TCU and Boise State stand nationally on Thursday, and then our usual weekend previews as we gear up for week 12.
