Fringe Hangover, Wednesday, October 7

Last night, Troy claimed the Palladium and ran it’s home record to 2-0, shutting down Middle Tennessee State 31-7.  It was a defensive struggle through the first half, with Troy picking up their first TD thanks to a short field.  Touchdowns on the last drive of the 2nd quarter and the first drive of the third broke the game open for the Trojans, and MTSU wasn’t able to string enough drives together to make the comeback they were hoping for.

This is Troy’s fourth straight win over Middle Tennessee.  Troy next plays at Florida International on October 17, then hosts North Texas before facing the conference co-leader, Louisiana Monroe, also at home.  Meanwhile the Blue Raiders will try to get back on the right side of things when Mississippi State comes to town on the 17th for a 12:30 ESPNU matchup.  Their conference slate picks up again after that with Western Kentucky.  After playing four of five on the road to start the season, Middle Tennessee only has two away games left on their calendar.
