October is finally here- if Saturday is moving day in golf tournaments, October is moving month in college football. Most of the biggest games of the year, in the national picture, are coming up this month. Florida-LSU, Oklahoma-Texas, Southern Miss at Houston, all this month.
Last night, Louisiana Tech knocked off Hawaii 27-6. I completely forgot about this game, and had meant to write up a preview since I omitted it intentionally from last week’s WAC posting. That being said, I totally would have maybe picked La Tech for the win. I got in in time for the second half, and Hawaii looked worn out. They’ve had 3 straight road games now, all against decent competition, and it looks like they’re due for a break. They have 11 days now to rest and get ready for Fresno State coming to town. Meanwhile, Louisiana Tech is back to 2-2, and has 9 days of their own to get ready to go into Nevada for another important WAC showdown.
Lots of material coming at you today & tomorrow. Since I’ve been away most of this week, your week 4 wrapups and week 5 previews will be coming in together for most of the conferences. Stick around for a couple days and you’ll be well prepared for a busy weekend. Also, today’s big post at the Pub should come together around 11 AM. That column will include a preview of tonight’s Southern Miss at UAB showdown, so look for that one.
